Matching Array Voltage Windows to a Solar Pump Drive

This guide explains how to align PV array voltage with the operating window of a Boray solar pump drive, using the BR500-P Solar Pump Inverter and DC voltage booster accessories named in the Boray catalog.

Why Voltage Window Matters for a Solar Pump Drive

A solar pump drive must receive PV DC voltage within its intended operating range. The Boray catalog identifies the BR500-P Solar Pump Inverter as a solar pump inverter, so array configuration should be checked against the drive’s permitted DC input window before connecting the pump system.

Reading the Drive and Pump Voltage Classes

Match the PV string voltage to the DC input range of the selected solar pump drive. For pump-side voltage classes, the catalog lists LV40-70 DC voltage booster for 220v small power pumps and LV60-90 DC voltage booster for 380v pumps, which can be considered when the pump system voltage class requires support from a DC booster accessory.

Sizing String Count Around the Window

Determine the array voltage at expected operating conditions and compare it with the drive’s allowed window. If the available PV array voltage is too low, string series count may need to be increased; if too high, reduce series count or use catalog accessories named for voltage support, such as the LV40-70 or LV60-90 DC voltage booster products, only where their pump voltage class matches the application.

Low-Voltage Array Options

For small-power pump installations, the catalog includes LV40-70 DC voltage booster for 220v small power pumps. Use this product name as the reference point when the pump side is a 220 V class and the PV-side voltage needs a booster-compatible arrangement with the solar pump drive.

High-Voltage Pump System Options

For 380 V pump systems, the catalog includes LV60-90 DC voltage booster for 380v pumps. Pair this accessory only with a solar pump drive solution that is intended for the corresponding pump voltage class, such as the BR500-P Solar Pump Inverter, and verify the final array voltage window before commissioning.
